Narnia Road Trip Day 6 – Snow Much Fun! December 21, 2023January 2, 2024Wednesday, December 20, 2023Ladybug dubbed this as “the best day ever!” (Until I asked if it was better than ice skating last night. She said no. No matter – it was definitely a good day.) Snow much fun!We slept in and had a late breakfast before checking out. The Embassy Suites breakfast was the best of the trip since they offer fresh-to-order omelets and eggs. And a big container of bacon. Yum!Seven Springs Ski ResortAs we drove out of Pittsburgh, Gregg had the idea of going past Seven Springs Ski Resort. Ladybug’s family has been there several times so it was fun to show her around. They are not open for skiing or tubing until the weekend but were blowing snow to build up their base. It was 31 degrees and sunny. The Seven Springs parking lot had been plowed after Monday’s snow and the mounds were still piled up. We all got out and Ladybug made her first real snowball and she and Gregg had a mini snowball fight.Lots of Snow at Home!!I was afraid the snow at our house might have melted in the sun. But, thanks be to God, it hadn’t!It is a Christmas miracle for Ladybug! When we left Florida, the forecast for up here was for rain. Getting 3-4 inches of snow was an unexpected surprise. (Schools had early release in Monday and a snow day yesterday which messed up schedules for school concerts and other things.)Snow Fun – “Best Day Ever”Once the car was unloaded, we all went back outside. Gregg did some shoveling of the driveway and threw salt on the back steps. Ladybug and I built a great snowman (if I may say so myself,) had a snowball fight, tried unsuccessfully to “sled” with a garbage can lid, made silly videos, and laughed and laughed. It was so much fun!We couldn’t have asked for better conditions. True, she didn’t get to see the snow falling for hours, which I absolutely love, yet she was able to experience snow on a beautiful, sunny day with barely any breeze. We are on top of a hill and it is almost always windy – which could have made it uncomfortably cold.My toes were finally freezing, my jeans were wet, and I was tuckered out so we went inside. Gregg had a surprise for her – an outdoor skating rink in Grantsville. It is in the community park where I sold my book at Grantsville Days this past summer. We drove over, about half an hour away, and sadly, they were not open. That was disappointing.Perfect Soup DayWe came back towards home and went to Curt’s Family Restaurant for supper. We all had a bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup and a huge dinner roll.Tomorrow is another “sleep in” morning. Alarms set for 8. Zzzzz Travels Narnia Road TripTravels
