Walk Wolvercote to Binsey Church to Godstow Abbey – Day 12 of 2025 England Pilgrimage September 30, 2025September 30, 2025Tuesday 9/30/2025Gregg and I took a long walk today. We parked at a carpark in Wolvercote about 10 minutes from the house. We were parked for almost six hours and walked over seven miles. The weather was perfect to be outdoors – blue sky, a few clouds, warm sun, nice breeze. I enjoyed hearing the birds singing, seeing the green fields with cows and horses, watching the narrowboats, swans, geese, and ducks on the narrow Thames River, smiling with the joyful dogs running through the fields, and then having a delicious lunch sitting outside at a famous, 17th Century Pub and Inn, The Trout Inn.Instead of fried fish and chips, we had the fish exchanged for battered and fried halloumi cheese with chips and mint mushy peas. For dessert we had a small rhubarb and sour cherry crisp with custard and a pot of English Breakfast Tea.Along the walk, we visited St. Margaret of Antioch Church in the tiny Hamlet of Binsey. There is no electricity or running water (so no toilets, either.) St. Margaret’s Well is in the churchyard.Later, along the Thames towpath, we passed Godstow Abbey. It was a perfectly delightful and restful day! 2025 England Pilgrimage - Part 2 Travels ChurchesGreat BritainTravels
